Or Close Windows XP, by default, caches the files that are used during the system boot. It does this to store data in the memory in order to be able to boot faster. Prefetch files can begin to build up and should be deleted out once in awhile. Follow this Guide to Do that.
Click
then
Type prefetch then click ![]()
A window will open up with a bunch of files. All of these files are prefetch files. Simply, click CONTROL + A to select all files,

Then hit Delete, then Enter.

that's not true u should never delete the prefetch files.once deleted,programs will take much longer to open,as if u JUST installed them.besides,the prefetch files clean themselves out after a while.my opinion,leave these files alone,deleting them SLOWS DOWN ur computer not speed it up
