Translation This is what causes those system pop-ups. System pop ups are not the same as internet pop-ups, which are bad. System pop-ups, basically, are friendly reminders about something that is going on with your computer. You know, the ones that tell you that the printer is out of paper or you are running low on virtual memory.
Here is how to set the Alerter service to Disabled (Yes, I do realize that there are other ways to do this):

At the command prompt type the following:
*note: there are a total of 4 spaces in the above command that are important. If you miss putting in a space the command will not work. Yes, There is a space after ‘start=’
If for some reason you need to revert back to old setting. You can change this service back to the default setting by doing this:
