adobe  downloads  foxit  pdf

Image Working with PDF files has become more and more cumbersome with Adobe. It seems that even Adobe, themselves, recognize this and have added a “speed launcher” add-on that boots with windows and helps open PDFs faster (the catch is you have to have a process running all the time). Well, you don’t have to settle with Adobe anymore, there is another option, Fox-It. Fox-It out performs Adobe in every category.

If you are familiar with Adobe Reader then you will have absolutely no trouble with FoxIt. The menus and navigation setup are very similar to Adobe Reader.
Here are some screenshots:

Also, FoxIt offers a Pro version, which allows you to edit PDFs, at a much lower price than Adobe charges (I believe Adobe charges $400+ while Foxit is only $99). The Bottom line, FoxIt PDF Viewer is faster, cheaper (its Free for the PDF Reader, and only $99 for the PDF Editor), and more reliable than Adobe Reader

You can download FoxIt PDF Viewer on FoxIts website here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm

PrimoPDF for creating
written by jes, November 29, 2007
I just installed foxit and will see how it goes. A few months back I had to force the adobe updater to never run using my firewall as it kept freezing my dual core processor.

Free for non-commercial use, primopdf also creates pdf from any program on your computer.

I'd use it with my Open Office (open source Office suite that is better than MS Office) but Open Office already exports anything as a pdf natively.
Use PrimoPDF

With PrimoPDF you can turn any file that you can print(doc, xls, html, jpg, gif, etc) into a pdf file. You can append a new section to an existing pdf file. You can save a web page as a pdf file. Saves a little disc space, but more important, you don't have that html file with all it's appendages cluttering up your disc.

Not yet sure, but it looks like the 3D - model feature adobe has, isn't in foxit...

CutePDF for creating

If you want to create PDF's from Word (et al) you can install CutePDF. There is also the SourceForge project called PDF Creator. I like the former because it seems a little quicker. In any case, combine these with FoxIt reader and you're good to go for 90% of your PDF needs.
