Over the last few years, Security and Computer Health have been some of the larger issues that we have been dealing with. The process of keeping our pc’s healthy, seems to be getting more and more complex as time goes on. Microsoft has recognized this trend and has come up with a new product, Windows OneCare.

Windows OneCare is Microsofts latest solution to simplifying the process of keeping your computer healthy. It combines...

...anti-virus, firewall, hard drive defragmentation, security updates and few other things into one comprehensive, integrated package.

Currently, this product is in public beta testing. I just checked and YES, you can sign up for the Beta (for a 30 day free test of the program).

A Few things to note before jumping onboard and installing OneCare Beta:

  • Unfortunately Microsoft has only opened this public beta to United States residents only, so if you don’t live in the USA, you can’t participate.
  • Windows OneCare configures your computer to automatically download and install critical and security updates from Microsoft Update. Microsoft Update provides updates for Windows, Microsoft Office 2003, Office XP and other Microsoft programs through Automatic Updates.
  • Spyware protection does not seem to be included with OneCare.
  • Be sure to read up on the system requirements and Antivirus program conflicts before installing (it conflicts with a few Norton, McAfee & Trend Micro products)

Oh yeah, and remember that this is a Microsoft product so be sure to visit the above link with Internet Explorer or you will get errors.
