Booting to windows xp login screen displays how many unread messages each user has. For some, this is a handy feature to have. For most, it is a bit intrusive and a bit annoying. This guide will show you how to disable it so that your unread mail count is not displayed on the welcome screen.

Before beginning this guide, please do this

Click backupreg_01.jpg,

then backupreg_02.jpg .

Type regedit then click backupreg_03.jpg

Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail

Then Right click somewhere in the right hand window , and click New then Dword. Name the DWord MessageExpiryDays and give it a value of 0 to disable, 3 to enable.

I don't have unread messages under "/current/". And the count shows on my profile login. What should I do?
